In Dublin you will you will hear of its Norse origins, you can visit the world famous Guinness’s Brewery and sample it’s product. Dublin Castle and the G P O, both prominent in the War of Independence, and well known to Michael Collins, will interest you if you are historically minded. Dublin, the home of Shaw, Wilde, Casey and Beckett etc you will find alluring if literature is your concern and why not visit Dublin’s Writer’s Museum. You may like to wander around Trinity College and see the unique Book Of Kells.
Wexford is where you will see the home of John F Kennedy forefathers, the Dunbrody a replica of a Famine Ship (coffin ship). Wexford witnessed many engagements during the Rebellion of 1798.
Cobh (Queenstown) witnessed the tearful departure of many an emigrant as they set sail in search of a better life in the New World. It was also the last port of call for the Titanic on its journey across the Atlantic. Close by is Spike Island where convicts were held before being transported to Van Diemans Land. Beside the town is the burial ground where many of the victims of the Lusitania lie in a mass graves.
